Thank you to everyone who helped make this a great year. Thanks go out especially to our catechists who taught and prayed with our children. The head catechists this year were: Deb Shiverdecker, Beth Jennings, Paul Meyers, Louisa Kennedy, Diana Unger, Ruth Sinnes, Amy Obringer, Constance Pitts, Stacy Fullenkamp and Nancy Nottingham. We had so many new people help out this year. Some came in regularly to spend the evening with us and others spent a few evenings. I appreciate each one of them. And especially, a thank you to all of you, our parents, who brought your children to learn about their faith on Wednesday evenings.
Next year our Wednesday evening Parish School of Religion sessions will begin at 6:30 pm and run until 8:00 pm. Our first day back will be August 29, 2018. We will start with a picnic at 6:30. Mark your calendar now. I will keep you up-to-date on our planning and goings-on in my weekly bulletin column. Please consider being a part of our program in some way next year.
This summer you will be able to register students online for next year’s Parish School of Religion classes grades first through twelfth. To register and pay online you will first need to create an account at our parish website. Click on the “ParishSoft and My Home Church” tab on the parish website (www.stmarysgreenville.org) for instructions on how to create an account. I would appreciate if you could create an account this month.
Blessings on you and your family. May our God of goodness bless your summer days with enjoyment, rest and the closeness of family.
Saint Mary’s Youth Peer Leader Application 2017 - 2018
Students who will be juniors or seniors in the 2017 - 2018 academic year are invited to apply to be peer leaders of the youth group.
Strong applicants will be active in the life of the Church as lived out at Saint Mary’s parish. They celebrate Mass with us every week, regularly attend Wednesday evening study at the Parish School of Religion and frequently reach out to others in service in our community.
To be considered for this leadership role, please submit a two page typed essay describing your relationship with God and the Church, your strengths and weaknesses, and how your leadership would benefit the youth group.
Send essay and contact information to Monica Masso-Rivetti at the parish office or at firstname.lastname@example.org
Saint Mary’s Parish School of Religion, first through twelfth grades, follows Greenville City Schools lead on weather cancellations. If they are closed for the day due to weather, then our Parish School of Religion is cancelled. If Greenville City Schools released early, then our Parish School of Religion is closed.
If weather is late in developing, always use your best judgment and only drive if it is safe. If a Wednesday evening session is cancelled due to late developing weather, there are several ways you can be notified.
When we close due to weather, notifications about closures will be found:
on the parish website under the Parish School of Religion tab;
on Channel 7, WHIO;
on your phone in the form of text or push notification from our Remind“Weather Cancellations” group.
