Benefits of St. Mary's

At St. Mary's Catholic School your child receives an education that is grounded in the Roman Catholic faith. Spiritual and moral development permeates the entire curriculum at St. Mary's. Many non-Catholic families also benefit from the fruits of an education that focuses on the total student: body, mind and soul.

Catholic schools are renowned for academic excellence. Students in Catholic schools consistently score in the top 1/3 on nationally standardized tests. Terra Nova test scores of St. Mary students are consistent with these national scores.

St. Mary's students model their dedication to community service quite often. Students enjoy helping others in their community. In past years, students sang at nursing homes on various holidays, brought food in for the needy at Thanksgiving, sent valentines to the Veteran's hospital, and collected and sent items needed for incarcerated youth in Chicago.

In a Catholic School, a child will be encouraged to further his or her education. The total number of Catholic high school graduates who continue their education is approximately 97 percent. Graduates of St. Mary's school typically go on to become inducted into the honor society, honor athletes, valedictorians, salutatorians, and leaders of various high school clubs. Graduates of St. Mary's School have gone on to become medical doctors, bankers, lawyers, educators, business owners, nurses etc.

St. Mary's students participate in a host of extracurricular activities including Rosary Club, Student Council, and Jr. High sports.

Parental involvement is a critical part of Catholic schools like St. Mary's. Various fundraisers to help support the school and keep tuition reasonable are scheduled throughout the year. Many parents are involved in these efforts as well as volunteering at school and for field trips.

Nationally, the percentage of Catholic school students who finish high school is 98%. Academically gifted students are challenged by programs that meet their level and allow them to take honor classes in high school. St. Mary's School is committed to the philosophy that every student matters. Every effort is made to work with students who need remedial assistance to ensure a successful high school career.
